Experience Montofoli Wine Estate

Montofoli Wine Estate is an ancient landmark with 2,500 years of continuous history, nestled between the historic port of Karystos and the Venetian fortress Castello Rosso on the island of Evia. Declared an archaeological site in 1962, this 12-acre estate features Greek and Roman remains, Byzantine churches, and beautifully restored buildings from various historic periods. Since 1986, the Karakostas family has lovingly transformed the ruins into four unique historic villas—The Dovecote (built on Roman baths), The Red House (Neo-Classical), Belvedere, and Amfithea. The estate produces the award-winning Ktima Montofoli dessert wine using traditional sun-drying methods with four Aegean grape varieties. Surrounded by linden trees, citrus groves, and vineyards with stunning sea and mountain views, Montofoli offers guided tours, wine tastings, and an unforgettable escape into Greece's rich heritage.
